This is the whole of it, in plain words. What we keep about you, why we keep it, who else touches it, and what you can ask us to do with it. If something here isn’t clear, that’s our failure and we’d like to hear about it.
We don’t sell anything about you. There are no advertising pixels and no third-party trackers on this site — not from us, not from anyone. We keep what we need to plan your travel and look after you while you’re on the road, and we hand it back or delete it whenever you ask.
Your account. Your name and email, and your password stored as a one-way hash we cannot read. This is how you get back in.
Your traveller details. Phone, date of birth, and passport number for the people travelling. We hold these because airlines, trains and hotels ask for them at booking and at check-in — in Morocco and much of Europe a passport number is taken at the desk by law. We use them for your trip and nothing else, and you can have them removed after you travel.
What you tell the companions. Your conversations with Sebastian, Ella, Elif or a house’s own companion are kept so that they remember you next time — being recognised is the point of them. Those conversations are processed by Anthropic, whose models the companions think with. We say that plainly because most people don’t.
Traveler Watch, if you switch it on. Off unless you turn it on for a journey. You name the people who may see your last check-in; they get a link, not an account. You can end a watch at any moment. The fuller explanation is on Questions of safety.
Payments. Handled by Stripe. Card numbers never reach us and we could not store one if we wanted to. We see that a payment happened, not what it was made with.
Your own browser. A companion conversation is also kept in your browser so a reload doesn’t lose your place. Clearing your browser data clears it.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. We do not run advertising on this platform, which is why there is nothing here that follows you elsewhere. We do not build profiles of you for anyone else’s purposes.
And one we hold ourselves to specifically: we never push an operator’s competition at their guests. If you found us through a house or a guide, we don’t use that to market rival houses to you. Ever.
Their guest records are theirs. What you give them — an enquiry, your dates, a conversation with their companion — belongs to their business, not to our mailing list. You only become a Pas Perdu member by choosing to be one, on your own feet.
We keep this list short on purpose, and current: Anthropic (the companions’ thinking), ElevenLabs (their voices), Stripe (payments), Resend (the email we send you), Railway (the database), Netlify (this site) and Cloudflare R2 (images and documents). Each does one job for us and none of them are given your information to use for their own purposes.
Your account and your travel history stay while your account does — a journey you took ten years ago should still be there when you want to look at it, and operators can reach back through their own archive to resend a document you’ve lost. Passport numbers and dates of birth clear themselves ninety days after your last trip — automatically, without you asking, and sooner if you do ask. A document needed at a hotel desk is not a document we need afterwards. If you close your account we delete what we hold, except anything we’re required to keep for tax or accounting.
A copy of everything we hold about you. A correction. Deletion. An end to any email we send. You don’t need a reason and you won’t be asked for one — write to desta@pasperdu.com and a person answers.
If you’re in the UK or the European Union, the GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability and objection are yours and the line above is how you use them. If you’re in Morocco, the same applies under Law 09-08. If you’re in a US state with its own privacy statute, likewise. We answer everyone the same way, which is easier for us and fairer to you.
Pas Perdu is for adults. We don’t knowingly hold information about anyone under 16 except as a named traveller on a family booking made by their parent or guardian.
We’ll change this page and date it. If a change is significant — a new company handling your information, or a new use for it — we’ll write and tell you rather than hoping you re-read a page.
